Position Summary Maintains store maintenance standards in a safe manner by performing the following duties: Ensures that the floors are prepared properly and clean. Position Responsibilities Primary responsibilities are listed below: -Provides excellent Customer Service through practising a 3 Metre Rule. -Ensures that the floors are prepared properly and clean by: *Completing mopping/sweeping efficiently and in a timely manner. *Vacuuming and maintaining carpets between shampooing. *Cleaning Customer and Associate restrooms regularly. -Following a system to maintain floors to minimise slippery areas. -Stripping/waxing/buffing floors, including all non-sales floor areas. Practices safe work habits through: -Using proper lifting techniques. -Ensuring that all safety hazards are handled quickly. Being knowledgeable about emergency and safety procedures. Using "Caution" cones and "Wet Floor" signs to prevent accidents. Being knowledgeable about lockout/tagout procedures. Always keeping the maintenance closet clean and free of hazards and ensuring the stable stacking of items. Keeping the emergency eye wash area clean. Being familiar with hazards involved with chemicals and practising safe handling procedures. Using proper personal protective equipment while handling chemicals. Following correct disposal procedures for chemicals. Maintaining proper use of extension cords and ensuring proper grounding. Handling all spills promptly using correct procedures. Ensuring Occupational Health and Safety Act guidelines are being followed properly for: -- Hazardous communications. -- Lockout/tagout. -- Bloodborne pathogens. Manages supply and equipment use by: Using supplies as needed to control waste. Maintaining an adequate amount of supplies. Demonstrating good knowledge in the operation of all equipment. Operating floor machinery safely and effectively. Determining, with little supervision, what floor care is needed to maintain the floors. Keeping the floor machinery/equipment clean and in working condition. Other responsibilities may be assigned. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
